Privacy policy

This policy follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, it applies accordingly.

2. Principle

We only process the data we need to run the website and answer your requests. We use no tracking or advertising cookies and no analytics services. If you pick a language in the menu, we store that choice for one year in a cookie (“lang”) so the home page opens in that language next time. Otherwise the language follows your browser setting. Fonts are served from our own server.

3. Hosting with Cloudflare

The website runs on Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) with data centres worldwide. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP address, time, page and browser type to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; Cloudflare’s data processing terms also apply.

4. Cost calculator

The calculation runs in your browser. Your entries are stored locally in your browser (local storage) so they are still there on your next visit. They are not sent to us. You can delete them at any time with “Reset everything” or in your browser settings. For the exchange rate, your browser fetches a current rate from our server. For the price of transport by our partner, we send the postcodes and country you enter to our server at Cloudflare. They are only used for the calculation and are neither stored nor logged.

5. Reading a listing

When you drop the text or a screenshot of a listing, it is sent to our server and from there to Anthropic, PBC (USA), whose AI model reads the vehicle data. The result is returned to your browser. We store neither the text, the image nor the result; only technical error codes are logged.

According to Anthropic, data from its API is not used to train its models and is kept only for a limited time to detect abuse. Please do not drop listings containing third-party personal data unless necessary (e.g. the seller’s name and phone number).

When you paste a link to a listing, our server fetches that one page once and treats its content like pasted text. The listing site sees our server’s address, not yours. If a site does not allow this, we respect that and ask you to paste the text or a screenshot instead.

6. Abuse protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

Before a listing is read or a request is sent, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a human is using the website. Turnstile is only loaded at that moment and processes technical data from your browser and your IP address. To limit requests, we store an encrypted counter per IP address for at most one hour.

7. Quote request

We store the details in the request form (name, email, phone, vehicle, canton, message, plus the calculation and services you chose) in a database at Cloudflare (Cloudflare D1, stored in Western Europe). Only importsupport.ch can access it, after signing in. We also send the request by email to [email protected] and a confirmation to the address you entered, both through the delivery service Resend, Plus Five Five, Inc., USA. Our mailbox is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland. If we send you a quote, we store it there as well and email you a personal link. Anyone with the link can view the quote, so please don’t pass it on. Quotes are deleted together with the request.

We only use your details to answer your request and, where applicable, to carry out an order. Requests that do not lead to an order are deleted automatically 2 years after we receive them. If you place an order, we keep business correspondence as long as the law requires (usually 10 years). You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

8. Transfers abroad

Cloudflare, Anthropic and Resend are based in the USA. Transfers rely on the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, otherwise on standard contractual clauses recognised by Switzerland.

9. Your rights

You can request information about your data, ask for correction or deletion, object to processing and request a copy of your data. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
